We planted 27 linden trees in cooperation with Okolje Piran communal utility company at Beli križ under the name of “Health and Friendship”. The avenue was symbolically opened by Mr Wolfgang Baumann and Mr Janez Sodržnik. We would like to thank the Okolje Piran municipal utility company and its general manager Gašpar Gašpar Mišič for their cooperation and contribution to planting of 27 trees, which symbolically commemorate the 27th TAFISA Congress in Piran. Twenty-seven linden trees were planted in order to help fight climate change, to provide shade for pedestrians & runners and to make a greener urban city area. Trees will also provide food, protection, homes and habitats to local wildlife. They will also contribute to active city and sustainable physical activity. The second legacy is construction of the SIJ Steel Polygon in the rural area, village of Sečovlje, which was completed on Tuesday. It is located near the elementary school, which makes the new polygon available to all people, regardless their age, gender, physical or mental ability. People can improve their well-being and health, while this location will also become a place to socialize and interact withother people. Both legacies are following the TAFISA Mission 2030 visions that global cities will become Active Cities, where people will have a greater awareness and concern for the environment, and take action to preserve it.
